SITE LOCATION

The beautiful hillock of Vankhosüng is the Proposed Site for Witter Bible Collegeunder Wokha District in the State of Nagaland ,India It is located at an altitude of 1,434.48 meters above sea level. It is situated on the Northern part of Wokha Town and on the foothill of the Legendary Mount Tiyi which is believed by all the Naga tribes as the abode of the Dead Souls. It was purchased by Dr. & Mrs. J. R. Bailly, an American Missionary to the Kyong, Naga area in the year 1928 from Tüngoe and Kikon clans of Wokha village. The area of the land measuring 50 Acres was purchased for a sum of Rs. 460 (Rupees four hundred sixty) only. As per the term of the Agreement as signed by Sir Pausey, the then Sub Divisional Officer of the British Mokokchung, the entire area of the land belonging to the KBES is free from all encumbrances, save for the condition that the Land Owners be given the privilege of undertaking manual labor in lieu of the land sold. Unfortunately, Dr. Bailly died at Calcutta when he went there to purchase CGI Sheets for construction of a Bungalow at Vankhosüng. As per the record, Late Shanjamo of Yikhm village donated a sum of Rs. 100 for the purchase of the land, Late Tsayio Kikon and Late Chümdemo Murry paid a sum of Re. 1 each to Late Rentsamo Tüngoe, G.B. of Wokha village for straightening the demarcation line when Overseer Metchul surveyed the land. Later on the Lotha (Kyong)  Committee purchased the present Play ground from Late Khodemo Tüngoe for a sum of Rs. 15 and donated to the KBES for construction of a Play Ground.  Now that the Football ground is shifted to the top of the hill, the KBES has a plan to convert the existing Playground into a Parking Zone and a Park (Flower Garden).
